Written in 1982, this Sam Shepard classic is uncharacteristically traditional in its structure, but typically over the top in its story and style. The play tells the story of two brothers: Austin, a straitlaced Hollywood screenwriter, and Lee, a tattered, battered petty crook and drifter. The simmering sibling rivalry between Lee and Austin boils over when Lee suddenly steals all of Austin's creative thunder -- leading to a riotous "collaboration" which all but reduces the tiny house to a pile of rubble. The play's encounter between the brothers explores the duality of human personality, and our primal capacity for violence.
